Texas police said a teenage girl died after crashing into a concrete pillar from inside a stolen vehicle.
The Beaumont Police Department said in a news release that the vehicle, a silver 2023 Hyundai, was reported stolen at 3:35 a.m. on Nov. 20.
According to the release, officers proceeded to the scene of the auto theft and arrived just as the suspect was on the run.
A short distance away, the driver lost control and crashed into a concrete pole near Interstate 10, police said. Four men got out and fled on foot, although officers caught two of them.
Police found a fifth person, a 13-year-old girl, dead inside the vehicle, the release said.
The remaining two accused could not be traced.
An investigation is underway.
Beaumont is approximately 85 miles east of downtown Houston.
