‘I am a servant of the people’: PM Modi on senior Congress leader Mistry’s ‘aukat’ attack | gujarat election news

Rajkot/Surat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday presented himself as a ‘servant of the people’ without any pretensions of greatness. Congress It should go beyond name-calling and fight the BJP in elections on the basis of performance, aiming to show its “worth”. Shouldn’t the issues of development like water and electricity be discussed during elections? We are ready to give an account of our work, but the Congress is shying away from highlighting these issues because the party knows very well that it will be completely crushed by the BJP’s track record.

He was referring to Congress veteran and former Rajya Sabha MP Madhusudan Mistry’s comment over the weekend that his party’s manifesto had promised to rename Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium as Sardar Patel Stadium, implying that his PM should be kept in place.
“They are saying that they will show Modi his worth. Look at their arrogance. All of you are from affluent families, but I am from a simple family. I don’t have such stature. I am a servant and what is the stature of a servant? said the PM, reminding the gathering that he was earlier branded by the Congress as “neech (vile)”, “maut ka saudagar (merchant of death)” and “gandi nali ka keeda” (sewer worm). Modi said he was tolerating the barrage of abuses from the opposition only because he wanted to work for the welfare of 130 crore Indians.

Speaking at Jambusar town in tribal-dominated Bharuch district, Modi accused the Congress of never acknowledging the existence of tribals across the country. The PM said this was the reason why the country did not have a separate ministry for tribal welfare until the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led coalition government came to power.
Modi also accused the Congress functionaries of making fun of the dress worn by the tribals. “Till recently, if someone gave me a tribal turban or I wore a tribal jacket, they would make fun of me. They always insult the tribals. No one can imagine that the Congress is doing anything good for Gujarat or for the tribals. ,

Targeting Rahul Gandhi’s India couple travelModi said those who were “dropped” were trying their best to regain lost ground by marching along with those working against the public interest.
Without naming Rahul or the anti-dam activist, he said, “They are walking shoulder to shoulder with those who stalled the Narmada project for more than 30 years through litigation.” Medha Patkar,
