At least five people were killed and 18 others were injured in a Saturday mass shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado, according to police.
Colorado Springs Police Lt. Pamela Castro said officers received multiple 911 calls since 11:57 p.m. local time and responded to the scene at Club Q.
“They located an individual that we believe to be a suspect,” Castro said. “At this time, the suspect is being treated but remains in custody.”
Castro did not specify whether the suspect was included in the count of those wounded in the shootings.
Police declined to talk about a possible motive. Colorado Springs Fire Captain Mike Smaldino said 11 ambulances responded to the scene after the 911 call was received.
“We will be here for several hours to come,” Castro said, adding that the FBI is on the scene and assisting.
