New Twitter Accounts Can’t Be Verified for 90 Days as Musk Works on ‘Rock Solid’ Updates – Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA)

new Twitter Inc. Accounts will not be able to subscribe to Twitter Blue membership for 90 days.

What happened: Tesla Inc. TSLA CEO and Head of Twitter Elon Musk announced on Wednesday that Twitter Blue is set to launch on November 29. Now, ahead of this highly publicized relaunch, the About Twitter page has been updated.

“Newly created Twitter accounts will not be able to subscribe to Twitter Blue for 90 days. We may also impose a waiting period for new accounts at our discretion in the future without notice,” the update read.

There was no specific waiting period in the old program. However, it said, “Twitter accounts created on or after November 9, 2022 will be unable to subscribe to Twitter Blue at this time,” according to an archive of the page Via Wayback Machine.

Why this is important: Announcing the re-launch date of the Twitter Blue subscription service, Musk indicated that they are working to make sure this time around, the model is “rock solid”.

The 90-day update may have been introduced to eliminate scams, impersonators, and misinformation that plagued the new Verification Badge subscription service.

Twitter has some other policies in place to mitigate such negativity, including Musk’s announcement that verified name changes could lose the check mark until Twitter confirms the name violates its terms of service. Doesn’t, The Verge reported.

Creating a parody account without explicitly mentioning the parody in the name may also result in suspension.
