One person was killed and 27 others were injured when a bus carrying students from Brandeis University in Massachusetts overturned on Saturday night.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office said in a statement that the shuttle bus was carrying 27 students from a hockey game at Northeastern University in Boston when it crashed near Brandeis’ campus in Waltham around 10:30 p.m.

The university said in a statement to USA TODAY that the student killed in the accident was identified as graduate student Vanessa Markle.

One student was pronounced dead at the scene, and the remaining 26 students and the driver of the bus sustained injuries and were taken to local hospitals, officials said. The university said in a statement on Sunday that 11 of those hospitalized have been admitted for further care.
