Fox News’ Tucker Carlson said Monday that “violence and brutality should always horrify us every single time” after the mass shooting at LGBTQ+ club Q in Colorado Springs over the weekend.
But Carlson’s comments rang hollow to many online, reminding a string of anti-LGBTQ rhetoric he regularly hurls at millions of viewers of his prime-time show.
Opening the program with a segment about the five people killed and 25 injured in the shooting, Carlson honestly said such incidents never stop being “horrible” no matter how many times you watch it.
“Violence and brutality should horrify us every time,” he said. “When we start becoming cynical about the death of other human beings, we have lost something essential to our humanity. Unfortunately, you are seeing that.
